The Artful Journey

The Artful Journey—MMAG Exhibit for our Volunteers

REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED

Okemos Library, 4321 Okemos Rd, Okemos, MI 48864

This is a special exhibit in honor of all the Volunteers who help the Guild function. Members who volunteered to help MMAG during the current season, including participating in the “Smiles for Seniors” greeting card project are eligible to enter this show. Open without fee to qualifying members.

This is not a judged show but the Library will choose their favorite piece and MMAG will award a FREE membership for next season.

Work not for sale (NFS) is accepted.

  • Send JPG file of your artwork by email to Andrea Jeris (andreams@mac.com) by 5 p.m. on Monday, April 21.
  • Drop off artwork at Okemos Library on Monday, May 5, from 4– 6 p.m.

(Suggestion: find a friend and deliver your artwork together, or one drops off and the other picks up.)

  • Artist Reception: Sunday, June 22 1-3 PM
  • Pick Up Art: Tuesday, July 1st from 4-6 PM

If you cannot make the posted times, please arrange for someone to deliver/pick up your work. No other times will be available. This is for minimum disruption of building business.

Artists whose work is left after pickup will not be eligible for the next MMAG show.

When registering for a show—to respect the time of the volunteers who take in registration, create the sign in sheets, and create and print the wall tags for the venue—ABSOLUTELY NO CHANGES WILL BE ACCEPTED after you submit your registration. Make all your decisions on which piece, title, and price BEFORE submitting your entry.

Work must be original, conceived and created by the artist. Work exhibited in a previous judged Guild show will be accepted. Artworks created in an instructional setting, including, but not limited to workshops and art classes are not eligible for submission. No direct copying of stock images, historic photos, or of any reference to which you do not have permission from the photographer or holder of the copyright. However, using such images in a piece (e.g. collage) where those images have been significantly transformed is allowed.

Copies and reproductions of original works of art, whether embellished or not, are not eligible for submission. However, prints such as photographs, lithographs, woodcuts, engravings, etching, screen prints, and digital works are acceptable as long as they are labeled as such.

NO narrative explanations or description of artwork may be included with the artwork. Words may be included as a part of the composition of the artwork.

Each member may submit 1 (one) 2D piece; additional submissions may be permitted depending on available space. All entries must be dry and WIRED for hanging (NO other hangers accepted) with a label attached to the back of the artwork including your name, the title, media, and price / NFS. The Guild reserves the right to decline any work that does not meet the above requirements.

Please NOTE: All wall hung art submitted to any MMAG show or exhibit requires a WIRE for hanging. The hanging systems in our venues CANNOT accommodate loops, bars, sawtooth hangers, etc. Make sure the gauge (thickness) of the wire is strong enough to hold the weight of your piece. Art not following this requirement will be rejected from the show.

The Guild reserves the right to decline any work that does not meet the above requirements.

Liability and Insurance – Okemos Library and MMAG will take all precautions to safeguard your work, but neither can be responsible for the loss of, or any damage to, your work. You are responsible for insuring your artwork if you wish.

Sales and Commission – Works exhibited need not be for sale.

Registration – Registration is required prior to check-in for the show and allows the committee to pre-print tags and plan for space requirements. No work will be accepted at check-in that has not been registered by the deadline. Sorry, no walk-ins.

Online registration DEADLINE is 5PM on Monday, April 21.
