If you cannot make the posted times, arrange for someone to deliver/pick up your work. No other times will be available. We will not be responsible for your work. Work dropped off early will NOT be eligible for judging. Artists who pick up their work early or do not pick up their work on time are NOT eligible to enter the next MMAG judged show.
When registering for a show—to respect the time of the volunteers who take in registration, create the sign in sheets, and create and print the wall tags for the venue—ABSOLUTELY NO CHANGES WILL BE ACCEPTED after you submit your registration. Make all your decisions on which piece, title, and price BEFORE submitting your entry.
2D and 3D works accepted; no size restrictions.
- The show will only allow works created in black and white and their shades of gray. You may want to try ink drawing, charcoal, pencil, white on a black surface. This will be especially effective for you photographers. Painters, you may have to buy a tube of black paint—NO mixing your own black. Artwork may be disqualified for not meeting this requirement.
Work must be original, conceived and created by the artist, and NOT exhibited in a previous judged Guild show. Artwork created in an instructional setting, including, but not limited to workshops and art classes is not eligible for submission. No direct copying of stock images, historic photos, or of any reference to which you do not have permission from the photographer or holder of the copyright. However, using such images in a piece (eg. collage) where those images have been significantly transformed is allowed.
Copies and reproductions of original works of art, whether embellished or not, are not eligible for submission. However, prints such as photographs, lithographs, woodcuts, engravings, etching, screen prints, and digital works are acceptable as long as they are labeled as such.
NO narrative explanations or description of artwork may be included with the artwork. Words may be included as a part of the composition of the artwork.
Each member may submit 1 (one) piece. All 2D entries must be dry and WIRED for hanging (NO other hangers accepted) with a label attached to the back of the artwork including your name, the title, medium and price.
PLEASE NOTE: Wall-hung art submitted to any MMAG show or exhibit requires a WIRE for hanging. The hanging systems in our venues CANNOT accommodate loops, bars, sawtooth hangers, etc. Also make sure the gauge (thickness) of the wire is strong enough to hold the weight of your piece. Art not following this requirement will be rejected from the show.
The Guild reserves the right to decline any work that does not meet the above requirements.
Also, NEC reserves the right to decline any artwork they consider unacceptable. No nudes at this location; families and children frequent the building. Work must be acceptable for all ages. Work must remain at NEC for the entire show.
Liability and Insurance – NEC and MMAG will take all precautions to safeguard your work, but neither can be responsible for the loss of, or any damage to, your work. You are responsible for insuring your artwork if you wish.
Sales and Commission – Works do not have to be for sale. NEC will not take a commission on sales, but a 10% donation to Capital Area Housing Partnership, our host at this venue, is encouraged on sales.
Registration – Registration is required prior to check-in for the show and allows the committee to pre-print tags and plan for space requirements. No work will be accepted at check-in that has not been registered by the deadline. Sorry, no walk-ins.
Registration IS NOW CLOSED.
