12×12 SHOW REQUIREMENTS
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY: Artwork may be disqualified for not following these rules. Ask questions if you don’t understand anything. *The challenge is to design your composition within a 12×12″ square format. The artwork image itself must be 12×12″. If you frame your piece, the outside dimensions cannot exceed 18”x18”. (It is understood that the frame or mat may overlap the art slightly (unless you float it) and that will be taken into consideration when the piece is measured at intake.) You may NOT paint a false border within to change it to a rectangle, round, oval, etc. You may NOT paint the mat as part of your artwork. You may NOT paint the frame as part of your artwork. You may NOT hang it at an angle. Unframed gallery-wrapped canvas (no staples showing) with painted sides is allowed. Work must be original, conceived and created by the artist, and not exhibited in a previous judged Guild show. Artwork created in an instructional setting, including, but not limited to workshops and art classes is not eligible for submission. No direct copying of stock images, historic photos, or of any reference to which you do not hold total copyright are allowed. However, using such images in a piece (e.g., collage) where those images have been significantly transformed is allowed. Copies and reproductions of original works of art, whether embellished or not, are not eligible for submission. However, prints such as photographs, lithographs, woodcuts, engravings, etching, screen prints, and digital works are acceptable as long as they are labeled as such. NO narrative explanations or description of artwork may be included with the artwork. Words may be included as a part of the composition of the artwork.
Each member may submit 1 (one) wall-hung piece. All entries must be dry and wired for hanging (NO sawtooth hangers!) with a label clearly showing the artist’s name, title, medium, and price attached to the back of the artwork. Make sure the gauge (thickness) of the wire is strong enough to hold the weight of your piece. The Guild reserves the right to decline any work that does not meet the above requirements. Framer’s Edge reserves the right to decline any artwork they consider unacceptable. Work must remain at Framer’s Edge for the entire show and ALL work MUST be for sale.Liability and Insurance – Framer’s Edge and MMAG will take all precautions to safeguard your work, but neither can be responsible for the loss of, or any damage to, your work. You are responsible for insuring your artwork if you wish.
Sales and Commission – Framer’s Edge will take a commission of 35% on sales. Framer’s Edge will phone an artist when their work sells. At month-end, Framer’s Edge will send an artist whose work is sold a check for 65% of the proceeds.
Registration – ALL WORK MUST BE REGISTERED BEFORE CHECK IN. No work will be accepted at check-in that has not been registered by the deadline. Sorry, no walk-ins. Registration allows the gallery to preprint tags and plan for space requirements, and is required prior to check-in for the show.Online registration DEADLINE is 5 p.m. Friday, May 15.
